I was just realizing in light of an election, just how easy voting is to do. I have cast my vote on a few occasions now and apart from standing in a line for a while and doing a little research to investigate who the candidates are and what they stand for voting is pretty painless. Casting one’s vote I would say is probably one of the easiest ways a Christian can bring an influence on society.
Another thing that I can find easy, is to criticize our society for how it may be deteriorating and say “the world is going down the drain”
But, I could ask: whose fault is it? Who is to blame?
Author, John Stott says: “If the house is dark when night fall comes, there is no sense in blaming the house, for that is what happens when the sun goes down. The question to ask is where is the light?”
Or we could say, where is the church?
Personally, I don’t think it is completely right that I would look to another person, like a politician, to stand for righteousness in place of myself.
What am I doing? How am I affecting society for good?
In the event of an election, which people are saying is very likely at this point, I want to at least be able to say that I took a stand made my voice heard and voted.
