Christianity is Christ – The Jesus Manifesto

by Richard Long,

Got my copy of “Jesus Manifesto: Restoring the Supremacy and Sovereignty of Jesus Christ” by rapid parcel delivery today, hot off the presses.  It’s the collaborative effort of Leonard Sweet and Frank Viola that seeks to refocus the Church on the person of Jesus.

Here’s a quote from the intro …

“So what is Christianity?  It is Christ.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  Christianity is not an idealogy or a philosophy.  Neither is it a new type of morality, social ethic, or worldview.  Christianity is the “good news” that beauty, truth, and goodness are found in a person.  And true humanity and community are founded on and experienced by connection to that person.”

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the book over the next few days, after all, the whole idea of prayer is “connecting” to that person we know as Jesus, and through him and by the help of His Spirit, to His Father.

There is a new website dedicated to the Jesus Manifesto.
