“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.” ~ D.A.T. Pierson
“History belongs to the intercessors” – Dutch Sheets.
Let’s be honest. The Church in the West is looking for quick fixes and tricks or techniques to getting our prayers answered. Exhibit A: the bookshelf in your local Christian bookstore that is dedicated to the topic of Prayer. Most recent books on prayer have some formula for how to do the shortcut to answered prayer. The prevailing idea seems to be that there is some kind of system that you just need to figure out. We treat God as if He is some kind of Vending Machine in the Sky. If you put in enough coins of faith or give it the right kick in the side then “presto, bingo” out come the rewards.
Yet 2000 years of prayer by great intercessors of the past did not rely on these new fangled techniques or recent revelations. The great prayer warriors of the past knew that it was on their knees, in humble, reverent, desperate supplication that the world was changed by a God who “hearest humble prayer”.
We need to pray for a spirit of supplication to come upon the Body of Christ again!
