Today, Mr. Kinsella, the speaker of the Senate will be saying a prayer before the Throne Speech which will open the next phase of our federal government on Parliament Hill. I am still amazed and thankful that this is part of the regular proceedings in our country since 1867. The prayer was written to acknowledge that the Dominion of Canada is under His domain and asks for divine guidance. Today, thankfully, the prayer is still meaningful to many Members of Parliament, Senators and citizens of Canada. Let’s pray that many more will find true meaning in that prayer.
I am reminded that the best throne speech prayer of all time is recorded in Revelation 7.
“All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. they fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:
“Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honour and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen”
