The response to Unite Canada 2010 has been so great, I can hardly keep up!
We’re now 13 days into the new year with new people wanting to partner every day, groups signing up to pray and many people writing to inquire about how they could get involved. I believe God is up to something in our nation as so many are being called to pray.
My friend Glenda got her church together to pray for 24hrs on January 8th and this is what she wrote about their experience. May this be an inspiration to you as you think about joining us in this awesome year of non-stop prayer!
The Christian Life Centre in Morden, MB kicked off its 24 Hour Prayer Challenge at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010. It was so much fun to have Pegwatch Prayer Furnace decided to text message our senior pastor with a blessing over our church to pass the baton of prayer to us as a few of us gathered at the church to kick off the next leg of the prayer journey. We had all 24 hours covered by various people in the church from the very young to the not so young. During the day we kept the church open and several people came to pray throughout the day. We had a prayer guide available that people could pray from if they chose to. That guide included prayer requests for education, family, government, etc as well as prayer focuses for our local church body. We also had flags from many different nations available so people could pray for those countries. A few of our youth got on board to pray through the afternoon and night hours and a couple even contributed to the prayer focus for their generation. Pastor Weldon passed the baton back to Pegwatch at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. This was such a great opportunity to bring our congregation together to pray for a common goal! We really enjoyed having the honor of carrying the baton of prayer for those 24 hours. And we’re already seeing God answer some of the prayers for our local congregation. We can’t wait to see how God answers our prayers for the nation! And we’re definitely looking forward to our next 24 hour prayer challenge! Go, Canada, Go!! -Glenda Schwarz
