This week’s team from southern Manitoba represented the three communities of Morden, Winkler and Virden. For most of them it was their first visit to Ottawa and Parliament Hill. Team leader Glenda Schwarz has actually been with us twice before and will be back again in June.
Amongst their highlights, which included going into Question Period, touring Parliament Hill, checking out the War Museum and the National Art Gallery (on their night off) they had the chance to visit with the Hon. Vic Toews. (pictured in his office above) He told them that as President of the Treasury Board he is responsible to oversee $230 billion dollars. Oh yeah, and they also met actor Adam Beach who was touring Ottawa with his son’s school trip.
We always try to determine with each team, just what their particular divine assignments are for their time with us in Ottawa. Several important things happened for this team, but one that stands out was their burden to pray into the Aboriginal issues that our nation is facing. There was a strong emphasis on seeking the Lord for justice for First Nations people all across Canada.
Well done Morden team!
