Amazing Answer to Prayer for 40 Days for Life

November 3, 2009

(Following on with yesterday’s theme, let’ s pray for the Queen Charlotte Islands and also the city of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory today, that the Lord would bring a revelation of his son to them in this special season.)

Today I want to encourage your hearts with an amazing answer to prayer.  This story was publicized on The Drudge Report (possibly the most popular website on the whole internet) yesterday.  That’s getting the word out!

Most of you know that today is the last day of the Forty Days for Life campaign, so this is one of the best stories of answered prayer coming out of that effort.

Here’s the opening paragraphs from the Lifesite News website.

“By Kathleen Gilbert

BRYAN, Texas, November 2, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The director of the Texas Planned Parenthood abortion mill where the 40 Days for Life campaign began has resigned, saying she experienced a conversion after watching an ultrasound video of a child being killed by abortion.

“I just thought I can’t do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that’s it,” said Abby Johnson in an interview with local news network KBTX 3.”

The fall campaign for 40 Days for Life is back in full swing. This will be the campaign’s third season in Ottawa, with six other Canadian cities participating. The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada is showing their support for the event as well.

By choosing to be a silent, prayerful witness, you are a voice for the unborn:  the vulnerable, the voiceless….

Prov. 31:8 – 9  ”Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Here were the events for Day 1.

Vigil guidelines can be found here.

See you there.

It’s hard to believe, but Canada remains the only nation in the western world without any laws restricting abortion.

Even ancient societies’ religions had universal opposition to abortion…. flash forward to today and one-third of our generation hasn’t made it out of the womb…..(can we honestly call ourselves a “progressive” society?)

In light of the fact that spilled innocent blood has an effect on the land (Psa. 106:37-38)…. and that the unborn have no voice with which to protect their lives, abortion is a civil rights issue that should evoke some kind of response on our part…

Will you be a voice for the unborn?

Next Thursday, May 14th – noon – on the Hill…. join thousands of others in the 12th annual National March for Life.

(Here’s the theme song….)

Our Director has been asked to lead one of the prayer gatherings at St. George’s Anglican Church at 10 am the same day…. we hope to see you there!

It’s back!!

Life-loving citizens of Ottawa are tenacious in their prayers for the protection of the unborn, and they wanted another 40 Days for Life back in their community, only three months after the last event held last fall….

Conceived in the US only a couple of years ago, the idea is catching like wildfire… there are now five Canadian cities (Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto) participating this season, in addition to 130 communities in the US and now other nations.

Join hundreds in Ottawa as they participate in 40 days of 24/7 peaceful prayer or fasting during the Lenten season for the life of the unborn… beginning February 25 to April 5th.

Click here to register for a time slot for the prayer vigil.

If your city is not yet participating, why not mobilize prayer from your church; a good place to start can be found here.

Praying for a Pro-life demonstration

July 10, 2008

by Richard Long,

Yesterday there was a pro-life rally held at the Governor General’s residence to protest the award of the Order of Canada to Dr. Henry Morgantaler.  About 500 folks showed up to voice their displeasure.  That’s Faytene Kryskow with the sign behind the speaker.  You can find out what her team at My Canada are doing by going to their website.

Rob Parker and Michèle Cloutier went over to lend some prayer support in the background and took the picture above.  We sense this is an important window in our nation’s history, as those who believe that abortion is murder, to get this issue back into the public debate.  We didn’t orchestrate this moment, but it has arrived and we need to make the most of it for the sake of the unborn and for the sake of our nation.

Let’s pray that the veil of deception that has blinded people from thinking this through clearly, would come off the collective conciousness of the people.    May God have mercy upon all of us!

Personal note:  As soon as I heard about this rumoured award, I felt the Lord saying that we needed to pray that current recipients of the Order of Canada would have the courage and will to begin returning their awards as a protest.  So I was encouraged when this immediately began happening.  Let’s continue to pray for this to grow, as it is apparent that the media is especially paying attention to those acts of demonstration.
